Bolsonaro has been detained after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under house arrest.

Latest Court Petitions

It was only on the previous day that the former president's lawyers asked the Top Court to allow him to complete his entire prison term under house arrest, with tracking devices.

They also asked that he be allowed to exit his dwelling for medical care, saying he required ongoing care for pulmonary infections and other health problems.

Context of Sentencing

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of orchestrating a plot aimed at retaining his authority after he lost the presidential race to his ideological adversary, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
